The Canadian Islamic College (CIC) is committed to providing accessible education to students of all backgrounds. We recognize that financial constraints can be a barrier to higher education.
CIC is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. To that end, CIC is making available Financial Aid program to help ensure that financial limitations do not hinder students who are interested in pursuing academically excellent education founded on Islamic principles and which prepares them to engage in careers in various specializations.
Through these programs, we aim to enable every student to focus on their academic and personal growth while contributing to their community in meaningful ways.
Financial Aid Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for financial aid, students must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled in a full-time degree program at CIC.
Demonstrate financial need through a completed financial aid application.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress (as defined by CIC’s academic policy).
Be in good standing with the college, with no outstanding disciplinary actions.
Types of Financial Aid
Need-Based Grants and Bursaries: Financial support provided to students based on demonstrated financial need. Amounts vary $1000-$6000.
Merit-Based Scholarships: Awarded to students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance. $2000, for students having 85+ admission average and $4000, for students attained 90+ admission average.
Community Leadership Awards: Scholarships specifically for students actively involved in their local Muslim communities or those who demonstrate a strong commitment to Islamic values. ($4000).
Application Process
Students wishing to apply for financial aid must submit a completed application form to the Financial Aid Office before the respective application deadlines. The following documentation may be required:
Proof of income (e.g., tax returns, family income statements).
A personal statement outlining the financial need and educational goals.
Academic transcripts or other evidence of academic progress.
Proof of community involvement or other specific criteria (if applicable).
Deadlines:
The deadlines for submitting financial aid applications are as follows:
Fall Semester: Application deadline is June 30.
All applicants will be notified of their financial aid status within four weeks of the application deadline. Award notifications will include the type of aid, the amount, and any conditions attached to the award.
Disbursement of Funds
Financial aid funds will be disbursed directly to the student’s account at CIC to cover tuition, fees, and other allowable expenses. Disbursements will occur in the first week of each semester and will be processed based on the student’s enrollment status.
Renewal of Financial Aid
Financial aid awards may be renewable based on continued eligibility. Students must reapply for financial aid each year, submitting updated financial information and maintaining satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is contingent upon meeting the following criteria:
Continued enrollment at CIC.
Demonstrating ongoing financial need.
Maintaining the required GPA as specified for each award.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
The financial aid office is committed to protecting the privacy of all students. All financial aid applications and supporting documentation will be treated as confidential. Information will only be shared with relevant college departments and personnel on a need-to-know basis, in compliance with the college’s privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
