OUR PROGRAM

Our program provides a holistic educational experience in the realm of Islamic studies by offering a unique faith-based multidisciplinary Islamic learning environment. It is epistemologically based in the Islamic Primary Sources (the Quran and Sunnah), while offering students a robust background in the Islamic seminal works as well as Muslim experiences and manifestations of Islam within a pluralistic society.

CIC PROGRAM

CIC’s program draws on resources and approaches from a variety of scholarly disciplines to prepare students for employment in a wide variety of fields. CIC’s Honours Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies was designed to meet the highest standards of postsecondary education programs.

The BA (Honours) is constructed of: 

At the heart of each of the five specialization areas of concentration lies the fundamental principle of translating faith into action, exemplified as follows:

–  Islamic Jurisprudence and Chaplaincy: Courses explore a variety of topics related to Sciences of the Qurʾan and Prophetic Traditions, Islamic Faith, Jurisprudence, Chaplaincy and Counselling.  

–  Islamic Economics and Finance: Courses examine Islamic Economics, Financing and Islamic Banking, as well as the Islamic Endowments system in the past and in the present which at its core prioritizes the betterment of humanity.  

–  Islamic Social and Environmental Justice: Courses enquire into the vibrancy and vitality of the ongoing discussions regarding social and environmental justice, climate change, sustainability, human and animal rights, and ecology.  

–  Islamic Arts and Media: Courses explore the fields of Islamic Arts and media and delve deeply into the areas of Islamic Architecture, popular cultures, designing digital communication forms as well as the digital policies in this global context of the 21st Century.

Flexibility and versatility are the two principles guiding our program delivery options to our students:
Within those streams - the program is offered in two modalities: on-campus and online. It is important to note that while the curriculum and learning objectives of the two modalities are the same, course delivery differs Students can follow a full-time or part-time course of study.
For students and learners who are not pursuing degrees but want to expand their learning and knowledge can access courses via our Continuing Education Program options.
