In the Earth and Environment: Islamic Perspective course, students embark on an in-depth exploration of the expansive Islamic attitude towards nature and the environment, delving into a rich tapestry of rules and values derived from the Qurʾan, the Sunnah, and the wisdom of eminent Muslim scholars and scientists. This course serves as an introduction to the burgeoning field of religion and ecology, tracing its evolution over the past several decades. Students engage in a profound examination of human relationships with the natural world, drawing comparisons with other religious and cultural traditions while placing a specific emphasis on the unique perspectives embedded in Islam. Through critical reflection, participants analyze the pivotal role of religion, with a focused lens on Islam, in identifying and addressing environmental challenges and concerns.
