Use this checklist to make sure your application is complete and ready for review. Requirements may vary depending on your applicant category, so submit all relevant items as early as possible to avoid delays.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements depend on your academic background (high school, transfer, second degree, mature, or ESL). Review the categories below to confirm the minimum requirements and the documents you’ll need to submit.

High School Students

Requirement

Successful completion of a Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent, with a minimum average of 70%.

 The average will be based on the Grade 12 U English grade (or equivalent course for students outside of Ontario), plus five additional Grade 12 U or M courses with the highest grades.

For Students from outside Ontario, assessment will be done according to the provincial equivalent requirements.

For International Baccalaureate, a minimum overall score of 28 including English and at least two additional at the Higher Level will be considered for admission.

Second Degree Students

Requirement

CIC may admit students who are interested in pursuing a second degree or a second minor within a CIC degree.
Students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree may apply for admission to a second-degree program at CIC. A maximum 60 credits may be awarded as transfer credit.

The minimum requirements for admission to a second degree include successful completion of the first degree with 65% or better.

No transfer credit shall be given for HTP 401 Honours Thesis Project 1 (Research Proposal), HTP 402 Honours Thesis Project 2 (Thesis Submission), nor ISP 399 (Practicum Field Placement) and a minimum of 60 academic credits (20 courses) must be completed at CIC.

Transfer Students

Requirement

Students applying for admission to Canadian Islamic College from a recognized degree-granting institution in Canada or abroad are encouraged to apply for admission. A maximum of 60 transfer credits may be awarded based on the following criteria

  • All courses considered for transfer credit were completed with a 65% (2.5 GPA) or above grade.
  • All courses considered for transfer have direct equivalents at CIC as determined by the Registrar.

Transfer credits must be earned credits from a recognized institution which is defined as a postsecondary institution which is a Canadian university, and only credits from degree level programs will be accepted.

Homeschooled Students

Requirement

A student whose academic background is based upon home education may be admitted on the basis of evidence of the following:

A minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1250 (out of 1600), to be submitted by the application deadline.

Grade 12 equivalency including the completion of courses that qualify the student for undergraduate entrance.

Learning portfolio that documents the student’s secondary school program in place of submitting secondary school transcripts.

Mature Students

Requirement

Mature students are applicants who have not achieved the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or its equivalent and who are at least 19 years of age on or before the commencement of the program in which they intend to enroll.

All mature students must have demonstrated academic abilities equivalent to those of Ontario high school graduates, verified by successful completion of at least one semester (or equivalent) of full-time studies at the postsecondary level at a recognized institution. CIC does not offer entrance examinations.

International Students

Requirement

The Canadian Islamic College is not currently accepting international students. Subscribe to find out when applications open for international students.

ESL Students

Requirement

ESL (English as a Second Language) Students whose primary language is not English, or whose previous education has been conducted in another language, Proof of English Proficiency is required as English is the normal language of instruction and communication at the Canadian Islamic College.
The language proficiency requirement is:

  • a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based);
  • an IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0. The writing component of IELTS must not be below 6.5:
  • Applicants who have results from recognized Canadian university English language testing services may submit their results for consideration.

Exemption from this requirement can be granted if you completed:

  • at least one year of full-time study at another degree granting college or university in a country (or institution) where English is the official language of instruction.
  • Studied at least 4 full years of study in English at an accredited high school in Canada or where English is the official primary language of the country, or
  • Studies at least 4 full years of study at the high-school level where English is the primary language of instruction, or
  • Completed One full year of study in an accredited university degree program in English in a country where English is a primary language or where English is the official language of the institution.

These dates help you plan your application and next steps. We recommend applying early and submitting documents promptly, as offers are made on a rolling basis and spaces may be limited.

  • Applications Open

    Online Application Opens 

  • Earliest Offer Date

    Starting on this date, eligible applicants may begin receiving offers of admission as applications are reviewed and decisions are finalized.

  • Notice of Acceptance

    Applicants will be notified of an admission decision by this date. Make sure your email address is correct in your application and check your inbox regularly for updates.

  • Deadline to confirm Offers of Admission

    If you receive an offer, you must confirm your acceptance by this deadline to secure your place in the program.

  • Tuition Deposit Due

    A tuition deposit is required to confirm your enrolment. Details on the amount and payment steps will be provided after you accept your offer.

  • Registration for Fall Term and Orientation

    Course registration opens during this period. You’ll also receive orientation details to help you prepare for your first term, including advising, schedules, and key student resources.

  • Classes Begin

    The Fall term begins on this date. Students should be fully registered in courses and ready to attend classes.

Financial Aid

Unfortunately, OSAP funding is not available since the college is new. As per OSAP regulations, the CIC will not qualify for this program before at least the academic year 2027/28.

MAC Canadian Islamic College does offer financial aid and scholarships.
