WHY CIC

As an Islamic institution, the Canadian Islamic College is dedicated primarily to an understanding and spreading awareness of the Islamic faith in One God, as the common origin of all heavenly religions,

and reframing contemporary conceptions around Islam. The overall purpose of the Islamic Studies Program is to prepare learners for an enhanced level of literacy in the Islamic scholarly tradition and to be aware of the contemporary areas of justice and outreach through dialogue of faith and reason to put faith into action to protect and promote human dignity.

Some of the reasons why you should consider joining the CIC: 

–  CIC will offer a unique faith-based multidisciplinary Islamic learning environment. It will be the first Islamic post-secondary institution that is epistemologically based in the Islamic Primary Sources (the Quran and Sunnah), while offering students a robust background in the Islamic seminal works as well as Muslim experiences and manifestations of Islam within a pluralistic society.  

–  CIC’s program is designed to provide a learning environment and a high-quality education that can be transformative for students as it draws on resources and approaches from a variety of scholarly disciplines to prepare students for employment in a wide variety of fields.  It will provide all students the academic and professional experience required for positioning them well for a lifelong vocation and career in the wide and various Islamic Studies related fields. 

–  CIC offers a program that integrates Islamic knowledge and perspectives across disciplinary boundaries such as Quran and Sunnah studies, Islamic Thought, Islamic Law, Islamic Economics and Finance, and Muslim Cultures and Communities. The aim of the program is to develop a strong background in Islamic Studies coupled with well-developed critical thinking skills. 

–  Its degree in Islamic Studies has been carefully benchmarked against other universities all over the world. Further, CIC is an accredited program that passed the assessment of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB). The Board has 11 Standards, and each standard has several benchmarks, including: The Degree Level Standard; the Graduation Standard, the Program Content and Delivery Standards; the Internal Quality Assurance and Development Standard, the Academic Freedom and Integrity Standard, and the Student Protection Standard 

–  CIC is a versatile program that is solidly grounded in the Liberal Arts from an Islamic Perspective. At its completion, students will be granted a 4-year Honours Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies with five streams of specializations. 

–  CIC is accredited to offer degrees in both a regular program or online degree. Flexible and accessible program as students will have the option to register in either the in-campus program, or select the Online option.  

–  As an Islamic institution, the CIC is dedicated to promoting the Arabic language to enable our students and graduates to access Islamic primary sources of knowledge and enhance their capacity to authentically reference those the Islamic primary texts.
