STATEMENT OF FAITH

While CIC is open to all members, whether Muslim or non-Muslims, Students, staff, faculty and members of CICs governing bodies are jointly responsible for respecting its statement of faith.

CIC, an Islamic institution epistemologically based in the Islamic Primary Sources (the Quran and Sunnah as defined by the MAC BOD), seeks to foster patterns of faith and conduct that are in submission to the infallible Word of God (the Quran) and the activation of these words through the Sunnah. As an educational community, CIC desires to foster an atmosphere of free, open and critical inquiry while also maintaining patterns of respecting belief and behavior that promote the distinctively Islamic framework within which this inquiry occurs. CIC aims to foster an atmosphere where challenging, probing, and stimulating discussions may occur in the context of the presuppositions and practices that respect a mature, Islamically-grounded faith. An Islamic approach to faith and practice seeks to promote freedom without succumbing to dogmatism, and to promote responsibility without becoming legalistic. While, CIC is open to all members, whether Muslim or non-Muslims, Students, staff, faculty and members of CICs governing bodies are jointly responsible for respecting its aforementioned statement of faith.
