This comprehensive course aims to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and perspectives required for effective Islamic community leadership. By delving into the core concepts of Islamic leadership and examining the roles and responsibilities of imams, chaplains, and other Muslim leaders within local mosques (masajid) and ministry settings, students will develop a well-rounded understanding of the multifaceted nature of leadership in the Islamic context. Through a combination of theoretical exploration, engaging readings, and practical application, this course fosters a holistic approach to learning, emphasizing peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and real-world experiences. Students will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from experienced Muslim leaders within their own communities, gaining valuable insights and practical wisdom from their lived experiences. Key topics covered in the course include reflective practice, religious leadership, Islamic theology and thought, instructional techniques, and spiritual care.
