IEF 301 Statistics

This course introduces students to essential statistical concepts used in business, economics, and social sciences. Students learn to collect, summarize, analyze, and interpret quantitative data using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Topics include probability distributions, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, and linear regression. Through practical exercises and data-driven problem solving, students develop the ability to evaluate information and apply statistical reasoning to real-world situations.

Learning Outcomes

Explain basic statistical concepts including variables, data types, distributions, and probability.

Apply descriptive statistical techniques such as measures of central tendency and variability.

Use probability models and sampling methods to analyze real-world situations.

Conduct hypothesis testing and interpret statistical significance.

Evaluate relationships between variables using correlation and simple regression.

Interpret and present statistical findings clearly in written and graphical formats.
